Mark Kerlin

I’m from San Diego, California and began racing in college for UC Santa Cruz. I’m a soccer dad with an 11-year old in a travel soccer program, and I support North London’s Tottenham Hotspur in the English Premier League and DC United in MLS as well as the Washington Spirit, the local female pro team.

My career highlights include winning three bicycle messenger alleycat races during a 5 year career as a messenger, and representing DC at messenger world championships in Barcelona, Spain in 1997.

Won a MABRA bronze on the track in men’s open omnium in 2005, taking the Virginia state championship titles in the pursuit and points race.

Won the cat 4 BAR in 2005, winning my last race as a 4 and my first race as a 3. Won the cat 3 race at Bunny Hop in 2006, soloing in with an attack from the second turn to the line, and held a cat 2 license after good seasons in 2005-2006.

Career best placing 3rd in Pro,1,2,3 road race in 1995 behind a pro and Chris Schmidt, duked it out with the likes of Nima in the 1,2,3, categories before breaking my leg badly in 1995, the first year I teamed with Super Dave on Team Aggress.

Super-commuter, riding 20 miles each way to work up to 4 times a week.
